In the glory days of California surfing the Noserider was the flagship, the banner carrier, the número uno. It smacked of Detroit with its extravagance of foam and stringers, of beautiful coloured resin panels and oversize fins. An elegant tanker that trimmed along like a long-stroke V8 through sloppy sections and weak walls. The classic Noserider still appeals for all the aforementioned reasons. A beautiful cruiser with all the tricks added. Take four steps or two, and hold that pose as long as you can, on tiny waves or up to waist high. Lots of board = lots of glide.

The Vinny has been an excellent base line for a hybrid type fish. So it made sense to start with the Vinnie template, but it’s not as simple as adding a foot to the middle. How much knowledge this bloke has is mind boggling. I watched this to see if his take/theory/opinion was the same as Tom Wegener's. It is. But Bob has been around alot longer. Geez I hope enough of this knowledge keeps getting passed down.

@@taylorr3529 No I haven't. Perhaps someone can correct me, but my understanding the original has even more rocker, a bit more of hip plus a couple of belly channels for extra hold, I think? It's probably better for beach breaks and not the best for the points.

My friend a shaper originally from Australia, he bought a McTavish back with him once. I was a grom not surfing for long, used to go watch him shape boards a lot. I remember that board, the shape, those little things that made it so perfect. The details of the nose shaped and foiled so masterly. I could see why he purchased that board. Great work Bob.
